For the concept it was important to make sure we establish a close connection and consistency between the exterior and interior therefore, we kept the same colour palette as the exterior.
Part of the brief was to significantly upgrade the general Interior (& Exterior) standard compared to the previous Armon sister vessels. The crew on Nebula should not feel second class compared to the crew on the mother ship. Since the vessel is mainly for crew and will accommodate only the occasional guest. we could go for a less elegant but more young, utilitarian, dynamic & bold aesthetic.

Yacht Support vessels are still a relatively new typology in yachting.
Designated to follow the mothership carrying toys, equipment & tenders they offer more flexibility and also open up new paths to more remote destinations.
It provides a home almost exclusively to crew and additional staff.
The new typology requires to define a new aesthetics, design language as well as material choices.
With this in mind the concept design was to be utilitarian, dynamic, young and with an edgy silhouette, while not pretending to be a superyacht
Nebula can hold her own place in the boat world.
The first part of the client brief was to significantly upgrade the general Interior (& Exterior) quality.
The client wanted to make sure the crew standards throughout the yacht would match the mothership to avoid the crew conflicts.
The crew on Nebula should not feel second class compared to the crew on the mothership.

MATERIAL MOODBOARD
Design Strategy
The most challenging part of the project was sticking to a 2 year time schedule.
Rather than developing the interior from scratch we had to use the shipyard's standard materials & details as standard doors, walls & ceilings panels.
Under such limiting conditions we had to figure out a smart way allowing us to achieve this design upgrade.
How did we manage to do that?
With an extra interior budget applied to sophisticated lighting, custom designed furniture and selected high-tactile premium materials. Another part of our strategy was to orchestrate the standard materials in a way that we could obtain a much more sophisticated and distinctive look.
MATERIAL CONCEPT
To translate the Exterior Design Concept into the Interior we used rough and textured materials which identify with the utilitarian character of the vessel.
To incorporate the accent color yellow we used a two layered fluorescent Perspex sheet which plays an important role in the interior design.
We chose two sheets of 3mm Perspex: Helios yellow & lava orange which were merged into one sheet. When hit by light - whether in the form of natural daylight or artificial light, the edges catch the light and reflect it like a lightning bolt.We had to work through a couple of challenges with the material - for example how to glue, laser cut & thermo-bend it.
We applied it to shelves, light fittings, cabinets, shaped trays out of them - it s the red thread visually connecting the different areas.
One of the most impressive areas in the yacht is the crew lounge, with an array of custom designed furniture & the huge windows which bring in a lot of natural light
